“At the foot of the cross, Mary, together with John, the disciple of love, witnessed the words of forgiveness spoken by Jesus. This supreme expression of mercy towards those who crucified him show us the point to which the mercy of God can reach. Mary attests that the mercy of the Son of God knows no bounds and extends to everyone, without exception.”

Ladies of Charity

The Ladies of Charity, the world’s oldest faith-based volunteer group formed in 17th century France, was founded by St. Vincent de Paul and St. Louise de Marillac. They are recognized throughout the world as champions of the poor and underprivileged. The seeds sown by these two heroes of charity have grown into a worldwide ministry for social justice, with 420,000 members in 43 countries.

Interested in helping others?  Contact us to become a member of the Ladies and Juniors Ladies of Charity! The Ladies of Charity motto is, “To Serve rather than be served in Humility, Simplicity and Charity.”  Within St Jerome's chapter and as part of the Archdiocese of Washington network of chapters, we support material donation drives and direct service support for pregnancy aid, local nursing homes, domestic violence victims, and numerous other projects to serve the poor, elderly, and needy.  Please prayerfully consider joining this ministry to provide service to others in need- all ages are welcome! There are no participation requirements beyond doing what you can, when you can. Prospective members who are unable to regularly attend the monthly meetings should contact Kendra Jochum and initiate involvement in any of our projects or committees.

Prayer of Intercession

Most holy and merciful God, strength of the weak, rest of the weary, comfort of the sorrowful, Savior of the sinful, our refuge in every time of need: grant us strength and protect us; support us in all dangers, and carry us through all trials. Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen
